Hi! I'm Manu, I'm 33 years old, and I teach French, English and Italian in 1-on-1 lessons or small group classes.
bio
Italian is my mother tongue, but I’ve lived in Paris, France, when I was 16 (to attend French high school), and then from the age of 19 to the age of 30. Twelve years in France have allowed me to become bilingual in French, and I obtained my DALF C2 (Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française) in 2007.
I've also cultivated my love for the English language throughout the years, and I've started to teach it a few years ago.
I have a Bachelor Degree in Applied Modern Literature (Lettres Modernes Appliquées) from Université Sorbonne-Paris IV, and I am currently attending Université Sorbonne-Paris I History and Sociology lectures as an auditor.
I’m very passionate about teaching, and I have gained experience during more than seven years of teaching private lessons. In previous years, I have also worked on commercial and cultural translations.
I am organized, patient, and very mindful about my students' needs and goals. I enjoy seeing their progress through their learning journey, and how they become fluent in speaking the language as time goes by.
I enjoy talking about literature, art, history, music, travels, science and innovation, politics, psychology, food, and any other interesting topics that student might propose for our lessons.

My main goal as a teacher is to create interactive, stimulating and relevant tailor-made sessions for all my students: practice is key!
I believe conversation is the best way to improve all aspects of a language acquisition, and I encourage my students to share their interests with me, so that we can expand on those topics, particularly in the speaking part of our sessions.
Vocabulary is acquired by identifying useful lexical fields and developing targeted practice activities.
Depending on the student's level, the first few lessons can be focused on pronunciation, in such a way that common mistakes are avoided from the very beginning of the learning process. This will also help with developing strong speaking, listening and writing skills.
Developing grammar knowledge is also at the heart of my teaching: my way to approach this side of the language is to provide concrete examples and to practice in such a way that the theory can easily be acquired.
Listening exercises can be based around specific podcasts for those who ask for them.
Reading and writing skills are also part of our lessons, depending on individual needs and requests.
I believe practice and experience are the most efficient ways to develop the confidence to fluently speak and use a language.
I'm always happy to answer to any question or doubt, and to share my students’ interests, as well as mine, so that our conversation sessions can be engaging and refreshing.

Every tool is useful for our online classes: I use my tablet as a whiteboard, my wireless stylus as a marker, as I can share my screen with you.
We listen to podcasts, and we exchange pictures of written exercises and dictations as and when necessary.
